The Story
"It is better to run with a torch than sit in darkness."
Why the Torch
The flame for the 2028 Games will be lit at Olympia in Greece, land in Atlanta, and pass hand to hand through all 50 states before it reaches the Coliseum on July 14, 2028. Most of the people carrying it will have no Olympic connection at all. Someone nominated them. That tradition started here in Los Angeles, with the 1984 Olympic torch relay, and I'd like to be part of it in 2028.
Who I Am
I'm Tom Ciszek. I live in Santa Monica, I'm a husband and a father, I'm Catholic, and I run most mornings along the coast. I've spent my career in robotics and supply chains, and I now run BOMForge, a company that maps America's manufacturers so buyers can find them. In 2020 I ran for Santa Monica City Council on housing and homelessness.
What I'm Asking
LA28 will choose its 2028 torchbearers from public nominations, and its relay partners (Coca-Cola, JPMorganChase, Allstate and Xfinity) will each choose some too. When those forms open, I'll need people willing to nominate me.
If you'd be one of them, add your name here and I'll email you the link the day the forms go live.
